Loans:
This offer is valid for BGE residential customers applying through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program only. To qualify, the homeowner must be a residential BGE customer with a BGE account number and work with a participating contractor.

On average, U.S. households are expected to save about $500 a year on energy bills with an ENERGY STAR Home Upgrade. The costs associated with upgrading your home can be made more affordable by taking advantage of generous tax incentives and rebates that are becoming available in many parts of the country.
Products that earn the ENERGY STAR label are independently certified to save energy and help protect the climate. The less energy we use, the sooner we can complete the transition to clean, renewable energy.

Inflation Reduction Act
Beginning January 1, 2023 the credit amount for home energy efficiency upgrades increased to 30%
of certain qualified expenses, including:
- Qualified energy efficiency improvements installed during the year,
- Residential energy property expenses
- Home energy audits
If you make energy improvements to your home, tax credits are available for a portion of qualifying expenses. These expenses may qualify if they meet requirements detailed on energy.gov:
- Exterior doors, windows, skylights and insulation materials
- Central air conditioners, water heaters, furnaces, boilers and heat pumps
- Biomass stoves and boilers
You can claim the credit for improvements made through 2032.
The credit has no lifetime dollar limit. You can claim the maximum annual credit every year that you make eligible improvements until 2033.
